Mounting Bracket (1x2 Station "Core")#32

Logistics Bays are currently used a lot to mount AM Reactors or Radiators, as they can attach on a 1 and provide two 2s, with the minimum cost to space/stability and only a 1kw power loss.

Unfortunately this also forces an interruption of cargo drones, whether it’s a good place for a relay node or not.

While you could use a printer for it to avoid that issue, the printer has a max heat of 0.5C, and even if you simply turn off the overheat warnings and manually calculate heat potential, it also has double the power overhead at 2kw

It would be nice if there was some kind of “Mounting Bracket” item at the 1x2 profile, that could be used in place of the Logistics Bay as the “intended” way of doing this.

Unfortunately, this will cost another mall/hotbar/inventory slot, and routing around or just using two cargo drones is usually viable. Some possible solutions to more-fully justify its existence… I’d suggest lowering the mass and/or making it like a jumbo strut or miniature Station Core.

The 2x1 programmable command block might fit this bill if it doesn’t generate heat. -Meanie
